![]() D810 or the astro specific D810 version would be best. It's a great camera but at ISO 3200 and above your get really ugly purple noise in the bottom of images. Gorgeous shot! Hmmm might have to give this a try with my D750.Īs for recommendations to the original poster, I would advise not getting the D800/e for this. What about a D810A? Isn't it supposed to have actually been designed for exactly this? Barely any noise reduction needed for the sky I can't post photos here because I don't pay for an account but here's a photo from this weekend, IS0 10,000 for the sky and iso1600 for the foreground for 8 minutes. The 750 seems about a stop better than the d810 with high iso/noise, and about 2 stops better than the 800/e (yes, I've actually compared raw files from all these cameras). I do find the LCD useful for finding focus using live view and focusing on stars, better than my old Canon 6D for sure. I have the D750 and absolutely love it for astrophotography. D750 seems to be cleaner than d800 at iso3200 and iso6400. I do feel that in movie mode the LCD is a bit more useful in extreme darkness but i haven't tried that in an actual shoot. I don't have pictures to share at the moment but based upon my one outting with my d750 in MW kind of darkness the LCD is not useful. I need a second body so I'll have a backup camera, just wondering which of the two would be better at night. I'm OK in the lens department, having both a Rokinon 14mm f2.8 and the Zeiss 21mm f2.8, plus a Nikon 16mm fisheye for "fun" shots. ![]() Really, I've come to think that the lenses are more important. I've been using a D800E for night shots for most of a year now. The eyepiece shutter on the D800 is a nice thing to have for long exposure shooters - why on Earth did Nikon leave this off the D750?Īnyway, I am interested in hearing from D750 owners, and hope to see some examples posted in this thread. I'm currently making my night photos a priority over daytime landscapes, already have a D610 which does well at night. I'm trying to decide if I should get a new D750 or a used D800/D800e. Is the tilting LCD great or difficult to use in the dark? How's the DR compared to what you had before?Īny issues using Live View for focusing on stars? Anyone using the D750 for star photography?.
